Cybersecurity for Businesses

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so in honor of the holiday, we’re giving away helpful tips to help your business stay protected on the Internet. Read the tips below and give us a call at 877-599-3999 for more ways to keep your business safe and secure.

Establish security principles. Create basic security guidelines and policies for employees, such as requiring strong passwords and how to behave online.

Protect from cyber attacks. Make sure all of your information, computers and networks are set up with the latest security software, browsers and operating systems.

Mobile Device Management. If employees can access company information from their device, require the use of passwords to protect their devices, encrypt their data and install security apps. And be sure to set procedures for lost or stolen devices.

Backup. Backup. Backup. Regularly back up the data on all computers. From word documents, to financial files, all data needs to be backed up and stored securely, either offsite or in the cloud.

Passwords and authentication. Require employees to use strong, unique passwords and change them every few months.

Secure Wi-Fi. Make sure that the Wi-Fi network in your workplace is secure, encrypted and hidden.

Limit employee access. Not all employees should have access to all files. Only give them the files they need to complete their job, and do not allow them to install any software without permission.
